April showers bring high winds, lightening strikes, and other forms of severe weather. The Better Business Bureau is reminding Hoosiers to be cautious of scammers who offer home repairs to storm-affected communities or vulnerable neighborhoods. If consumers don’t do their homework before hiring, it’s easy to get targeted by fly-by-night “fix-up” crews that promise cheap repairs fast. The BBB suggests that you don’t sign documents or agree to repair work in your first meeting. Don’t sign over insurance checks directly to repair companies. And avoid letting your emotions hire someone without researching them or getting multiple quotes.
