CDC: Childhood trauma linked to heart disease, poor health in adulthood

The CDC has linked childhood trauma to adult ailments in a study 20-years in the making.

ABC News reports there is a direct link between trauma and stress experienced in childhood and conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and poor health choices like smoking, later in life.

Health officials acknowledge childhood experiences don’t directly cause diseases; however, the study shows a strong statistical link.

California’s new surgeon general has prioritized childhood trauma and toxic stress.
