The other day, my husband and I were out and about with our little one. He was so well behaved the entire time (the baby, I mean…hah!) and we commented on how content he was while Mom and Dad had family matters to attend to and errands to run. After we finished up and packed up to go home, we realized we had lost Little One’s first prized possession; the favorite binky. The panic set in as soon as we realized it was gone. And although Little One has others of the same brand and exact design, this particular pacifier seems to be “The Chosen One”. We feared for what would happen when Little One began to fuss.
We searched high and low, but it was nowhere to be found. We considered the binky a complete loss. Fortunately, we made it through the night. But Little One was on to our mess up…
The next day, we found out that the kind people at one of the businesses we were at had saved the pacifier for us after they found it on the floor. Whew, nothing to worry about. I washed it, and it was as good as new.
But the fact that I’ve come to the point of a panic attack at the loss of something as simple as a pacifier now makes me laugh.
I’m sure it won’t be so funny the next time it happens though…
For now, I’m relying on one of those binky clips that attaches to Little One’s clothes to avoid another situation like that of the (once-considered) long lost binky…
All’s well that ends well, I suppose!
