2017 was the deadliest year ever for drug overdoses in Howard County.
County Coroner Steve Seele released the official number Monday, with 44 overdose deaths reported during the year…exceeding the previous record of 34 set in 2015. There were only 24 such deaths in 2016 in Howard County.
Seele says through efforts by lawmakers, law enforcement officials and health officials, 2018 should be a much better year.
