Converse Library Raising Money For Renovation

Officials at the Converse Library have begun fundraising efforts to renovate and expand the facility.

The Converse Library was built in 1918 as one of the Carnegie Libraries and it’s never been renovated over the past century.

Library spokesman Andy Horner says the needs at the library today are many, but especially when it comes to space…and the lack of it.

Horner says no matter what they do, they also must be brought up to current codes including making the library handicapped accessible.

Fundraising efforts are now underway to pay for the needed renovations at the Converse Library.  Officials hope to be able to at least start the renovations this year…the library’s 100th year of operation in Converse.
