2 Circle K’s Robbed Over Weekend

Marion Police are searching for whoever robbed two local convenience stores over the weekend, including one who used a pipe to beat the clerk on duty at the time.

Police say the Circle-K on West Kem Road was held up just before midnight Saturday by a man who said he had a weapon, but never displayed it.  The robber reportedly grabbed the clerk from behind and forced her to lie on the floor while the man robbed the store of cash and cigarettes.

Then about three hours later, the Circle-K on South Washington Street was robbed by a man who used a pipe to beat the clerk when the clerk informed the robber that he couldn’t open the cash register.  The robber then fled with several cartons of cigarettes.

The clerk was not seriously injured.

According to the “Chronicle-Tribune,” the suspect in both robberies was described as a black male who wore a mask over his face during the holdup.

Marion Police are investigating both robberies.
