Hoosiers Want To See Adoption Records Under New Law

Thousands of Hoosiers have already applied to take advantage of a new Indiana law that allows them to access their sealed adoption records.

The law…passed during this year’s legislative session and later signed by Governor Eric Holcomb…allows nearly 37-thousand adoption records from 1941 to 1993 to be unsealed.

While the new law allows the records to be opened, birth parents still have the option to request that they stay sealed. The state says some parents have already done so.
