Wind Knocks Out Power-Causes Semi Wrecks On I-69

Strong winds ravaged Indiana and Lower Michigan Sunday, knocking out power to thousands of electrical customers and causing other problems, too.

Indiana-Michigan Electric Company reported more than ten-thousand customers were still without power in Indiana and Lower Michigan as of last night.  With bitter cold temperatures and high winds still blowing, I & M called off most of their crews until this morning.  As of late last night, I & M reported the Marion, Hartford City and Muncie area still had more than 18-hundred customers without electricity.

At least two semis traveling northbound on I-69 were blown off the highway and overturned in Grant and Delaware counties Sunday afternoon…one north of the Highway 18 Marion exit and another south of the highway 26 Fairmount exit at the Grant-Delaware County line.  Neither driver was injured, but traffic was backed up for some time in both incidents.
