Marion man robbed at gunpoint Sunday, knocked to ground

A 20-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday, according to Marion Police Department Captain Stephen Dorsey.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. when Dan Draper III was walking on 11th street in Marion to visit a friend.

As Draper walked past a home in the 1500 block, a group of four or five males yelled at him to approach their porch, at which point one male pulled a gun on Draper.

As the victim went to run away, he was hit in the back of his head with the weapon and fell to the ground.

The suspects allegedly went through the victim’s pockets, before the male with the gun walked him a quarter of the way down the block, before turning back to the residence.

Draper was treated by emergency medical personnel and sustained a laceration to the back of his head.

The case is still active.
