Semi hits Oak Hill students, passenger life lined as a precautionary measure

Yesterday morning two Oak Hill high school students were hit by a semi while turning into the high school’s entrance, according to Capt. Ed Beaty of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.

At 8:09 a.m. the teens were driving a full-sized Ford pick-up truck eastbound when they pulled in front of a semi traveling westbound, Beaty said. He believes the sun was glaring in the driver’s eyes at the time of the turn which was a likely factor in the accident.

Beaty said a female passenger was life lined via helicopter due to her injuries, but at this point, both the driver and the passenger are in stable condition. Beaty said he was unsure of the severity of the passenger’s condition at this time.
