The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is receiving a $1 million grant.
The eight-mile bike and pedestrian trail which winds through downtown received the money from the Anthem Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Indianapolis-based health insurance company.
Most of the money will go into the trail’s maintenance endowment.
Cultural Trail executive director Karen Haley says that it will generate about $40,000 a year every year, ensuring a stable foundation to keep the trail clean.
