MPD: Gunfire damages several homes, vehicles on N. Boots St.

Marion Police officers are trying to find out who fired a barrage of bullets in the 200 and 300 block areas of N. Boots St. that damaged homes and multiple vehicles.

The incident happened on Wednesday night at around 8:30 p.m.

Rodney Carter who lives in the area told police he was lying on his couch next to the front window when multiple bullets came through his window, according to MPD Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey. Carter said he heard several additional gunshots from the street, but did not know who fired them.

Another area resident Shanteria Williams said she arrived home around 11 p.m. that night and noticed bullet holes inside her apartment.

A 2007 Ford pickup truck that was parked on the street was also struck by gunfire. The vehicle’s left front tire had been shot and deflated.

A 2009’ Chevy, Equinox sustained a bullet to the left front tire as well.

A third vehicle, maroon in color, took a bullet to the driver’s door.

Police searched the area and located eight spent shell casings in the roadway.

A caller reported that a white Cadillac was seen leaving the area.

No injuries were reported. No further information is available concerning the Cadillac.
