Today we get to celebrate the birthday of one of the best female vocalists in the business today. An American Idol winner. A proud mom. A wife, and one of the best entertainers in country music. I am, of course, talking about Carrie Underwood.
She is the pride of Muskogee Oklahoma. And in 2005 she won American Idol. She has been a star ever since. 7 Grammy awards, 11 Billboard Music Awards, 15 American Music Awards. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She has her own fashion line and is a New York Times Best Seller. Not to mention all the CMA and ACM awards and nominations.
For me there are a few things that stand out when it comes to Carrie that make me such a huge fan. I saw her when she was first starting out. She opened for Kenny Chesney on a tour that also had Dierks Bentley on the bill. She did an acoustic set outside of the stadium before the show began and was so kind and engaging to her fans. By all accounts, that has not changed.
Her pairing with Brad Paisley as CMA hosts…it is missed. Such great chemistry between the two. Arguably the best part about the show. She has shown some acting chops too. It really seems like this girl can do anything she sets her mind too. I know Sunday Night Football is just a little bit better with her singing the intro.
The only thing that seems to be missing is an Entertainer of the Year trophy from the CMA’s. I hope she gets this award soon. Very few women in Country music have that accolade and she deserves it. She already can be considered one of the best in the business. 14 Number One hits on country radio. She is a woman of faith, and her Gospel album will be coming out soon. It truly seems like she can do no wrong.
