Next Week is Prime Time to See the Perseid Meteor Shower

Something you need to know about me is I love a good meteor shower. Stargazing is one of my favorite things to do on this planet.  Growing up, my family had property in the middle of nowhere Colorado. When there was going to be a meteor shower, my parents would pack us up in the truck at midnight. We would head out to the property with an air mattress in the bed and layout and watch stares until like three in the morning. Yes… there were snacks involved too. The next day, they would even let us go into school late. (They definitely win parents of the year for this one!) To this day, I always try to make time to check out meteor showers.

According to CBC, next week is going to be peak nights for the Perseid Meteor Shower. The article says different scientists are saying different days are going to be prime to see a TON of meteor. The range of dates for the peak is August 11th to August 13th. They say if you are able to get away from city lights, you’ll be able to see quite a few meteors an hour. Some say the 13th will be better while others say the 11th or 12th will be. I think any of the nights will be good as long as there aren’t clouds in the sky!

From my experience, the best time to go is after midnight… which will make work the next day rough, but it is totally worth it! If I’m tired later next week, you know why! I probably was out late looking at stars!
