The Northwestern Girls basketball team showed why they were ranked number one all season by winning their first-ever State Championship Saturday…pounding Greensburg 63-42 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Lady Tigers led by as much as 30 points late in the game and finished with a 29-and-1 record. For Coach Kathy Layden, it was her 4th State Crown…having won three 1-A titles earlier at Tri-Central.
And to top it all off, Northwestern Senior Sarah Vas was named the 3-A Mental Attitude Award winner.
