Growing up, I didn’t have many friends. School wasn’t the nicest place for me. I use to get made fun of, so all the way until high school, I did just about everything alone. Now as an adult, I’m grateful for that, but back then it wasn’t easy. Living in multiple new states, the transition to new cultures has been easier because of this.
My challenge to you is to do things alone. At first, it will feel awkward and unusual, but in the end, it will be worth it. You will feel like people are staring at you and judging you… but they aren’t. Start small by taking yourself out for coffee and build up to traveling alone. It’s very empowering. Over the weekend, I went on a road trip alone and had the time of my life. I went down to Brown County and explored the State Park and some of the towns. It was so refreshing to be lost in my thoughts and get some time to figure out some things.
I promise… when you start “dating yourself,” you’ll be a well-rounded person that can’t be stopped in life.
